Are you brave enough to be an "Ask-Hole"?

I had the opportunity to meet one of my favorite mentors, Jack Canfield, at the New Hampshire Conference for Women 2 weeks ago.

I put on my leather pants, my most rockin’ pair of heels and I took a heart-shaped rock from New Hampshire to give to him (It was from the beach where my husband and I got married, and heart-shaped rocks are one of my signature things to give to people that touch my heart).

At the beginning of the day, I saw my opportunity to introduce myself.

I gulped, told myself to be brave and walked right on up to the stage while he was preparing for his talk.

I bumbled over my words a little bit, said “Thank you” a few too many times and it was all a little out of body, BUT...

I was the only one who was walking up there to talk to him.

I was following the lead of his very own words, “People who ask confidently get more than those who are hesitant and uncertain.

When you’ve figured out what you want to ask for, do it with certainty, boldness and confidence.”

I wanted to let him know that his journey and the courage he mustered up in going for his dreams had made a profound impact on me and for that I was grateful.

When I gave him the rock he said, “Thank you so much for this, I actually have a heart shaped rock collection at home.”

Of course he did!!!! (Talk about Law of Attraction goodness)

And so we now had a connection...and following his teachings of encouraging his students to “Just Ask!”, after telling him about my goal of becoming an author and transformational speaker just like he is, I asked the question, “Ok Jack, do you write the book or do the speaking thing first?”

He smiled and said,

“I’ve found that the book is your brochure...it gets you on the stages.

But, most importantly, you need to dial in on your WHY and remember why you started doing what you do in the first place. It’s not about leaving the corporate job to launch your own business, it’s about WHY you made the choice to take that leap."

And it hit me.

It almost brought me to tears.

He was sharing my very own words right back at me.

I help women women give themselves permission to trust and follow their hearts; to come home to themselves (and to their families).

I help women give birth to their dream lives.

And my WHY is not just about quitting my corporate job or booking an exciting speaking gig - it’s way bigger.

It’s about following my soul’s calling to live the life I was created for.

And this little soul-based “high five” from Jack fired me up and affirmed that my choice to take a hard look at my life and make the tough choices to bring my dream to life, was right on target.

I'm DOING it.

I'm aligned and I know what my WHY is.

And all I have to do is just have to keep on truckin’ (and so do you, lovely).

As his student, I’m going to honor what he’s teaching us...

Jack is 71 and is an accomplished author, speaker and thought leader.

And I am just as qualified to share the message of my heart in a big and bold way, just like he does.

The same applies to you, my darling.

Your dream is just as important as mine and Jack’s are.

Because the truth is, we can all do it.

The only thing that differentiates us is our courage and resolve in the pursuit of our honoring our WHY.
