My Top 5 tips for showing up more authentically in your brand
I talk a lot about showing up authentically in our brands and businesses.
My clients and I spend a ton of time focusing on how to align their truth with the way they are communicating their message from every angle.
A question I get over and over again is, "I know what I want and what I believe to be true, but HOW do I translate that in my brand and business?"
Here are my top 5 quick + dirty tips for showing up as authentically as humanly possible in your brand.
1. Ask yourself if you're really practicing what you're preaching?
Time for some real talk. We are so inundated with information sometimes it's hard to remember where we actually got the facts we are regurgitating to our clients and to ourselves behind the scenes.
So instead of "shoulding" yourself about what to do next, ask yourself if this tidbit of data or "formula for success" is something you actually believe in and practice rather than something you heard on your favorite mentor's latest podcast.
Walk your talk, create your own systems and inspire from your personal experience and step in to the legendary status that awaits you.
2. Go LIVE without makeup or a script.
When I'm feeling fired up, I love nothing more than popping on a Facebook Live Chat in my group and sharing what's happening for me.
The more energy I spend worrying about what I look like or on making sure I say things "just so," the more fire power I lose in the process.
{Now I recognize that this one might be making it hard for some of you to breathe, right now, but you can do it in other ways, too.}
You can write an Instagram post that shares your truth and shows the behind the scenes of what it looks like to run a business as a soul-o-preneur. One of my most favorite Instagram posts was of my daughter propped up on my legs, as I was sitting in a chair with my computer on my lap and a huge pile of unfolded laundry behind me. I was sans-makeup and on a launch deadline and that was the true picture of what it looks like to run my business on a daily basis.
Remember, reality has to look and feel like reality.
3. Teach for the sake of teaching.
I am a teacher and a coach and those roles began LONG before I owned my own business.
Helping others learn and expand has always been a huge part of who I am and how I serve in the world. I am willing to bet most of you can relate.
The problem is, the swirl of online business can get really dicey when it comes to teaching for the sake of pure education. There just seem to be so many strings attached...
I recently did a live training with no program pitch and no launch.
I had my longstanding invitation to join me for private coaching if my message and style resonated, but there was no "traditional pitch" involved in this particular training.
And would you believe me if I told you that in sharing content straight from my heart that reflected my passionate style of serving, I earned more than my last launch in just 2 1/2 weeks in the way of new amazing clients who are ready to shift gears in their lives and businesses?
I didn't go in to that training with a projection.
I did the training because the content was important to me, because it is the foundation I have built this business on and it's why I feel so compelled to do this sacred work in the world.
4. Read what your client's are putting out in to the world.
Subscribe to their email lists. Watch their latest Facebook Lives. Read their blogs.
One of my most favorite things to do is watch my clients spread their wings and put our work in to practice.
I am still a subscriber to so many of my former and current client's lists and every single time one of their names pops up in my inbox, I love the feeling I get...the gratitude that washes over me for their leap of faith, for their believing in me as a person to serve them on their journey and for their courage to claim their dreams.
If you want to be authentic, especially as a coach, be where your clients are...understand what's going on for them, know their stories and reflect on it during your sessions. Ask them questions, support them whole-heartedly and invest in them the same way they have invested in you wherever possible.
5. Remember why you started in the first place.
Every single time you share, write something or hop on a strategy call, remember why you are doing it.
I want all of my clients to wake up in the morning and feel fulfilled and abundant and expansive above all else.
I want them to wake up in the morning excited for the day ahead and armed with the strategies and the deep knowing that their energy creates their reality.
I want them to know that they have everything they need already within them.
I want them recognize how limitless they truly are without having to see the light at the end of the tunnel to keep them going on their journey.
I want all of us to recognize how amazing the ride inside the tunnel can be when we are pulled by the deep call of our soul.
The work that we get to do is like the cherry on top of the sundae that is our life.
When I left my corporate career to launch my own business I did it to come home to myself...and in the process, I came home to my marriage and my little girl and my family in ways I could not have ever imagined.
I came home to my body, to my relationship with money and most of all...my relationship with my soul.
When our message emanates from a place of pure truth and love...there is nothing that will get in the way of that level of authenticity.
I urge you to remember who you really are...who you've always been and who you're ready to become.
Your brand and your business are an incredible launching pad for you to step in to your power in ways that will connect with hearts all over the world and take the necessary steps to begin to consciously up-level our collective state of being.
